"I have long believed that it is an artist’s job to move the viewer beyond mere aesthetics,
to probe beneath the surface of all aspects of life and unearth whatever presents itself.
For me, throughout my creative journeys, this has meant producing work
which some viewers find disturbing or unsettling.
I believe that it is important that my work contain a social consciousness.
Because a work is difficult to look at in terms of its subject matter,
need not mean that it is lacking in beauty or healing power."
