Artist
Profile
Jami Taback is an award-winning, internationally exhibiting artist who has had more than fifty one-person and group exhibitions. She excels in several disciplines -- primarily painting, printmaking and drawing. She usually produces her art in a series or as a contained body of work, because, she states, "This way I can explore the shapes and colors by changing the composition again and again, remaining true to the subject. There are moments of spontaneity within the plan."
Many of her new works affirm her interest in illumination as it applies to the heavenly bodies, man made pyrotechnic displays and unusual cosmic events. This body of work represents some of the visual beauty experienced while visiting major cities around the world.
Jami Taback is currently working with the Police Athletic League of Yonkers, N.Y. and C.O.M.B.A.T.T., of Newark, N.J., to bring an awareness of the social aspects of urban youth afterschool programs. The artist’s paintings depict youths participating in the programs to help train them for the Golden Gloves Tournaments. View those paintings in our Online Gallery.
Her recent exhibitions include those at The Ernst Museum, Budapest, Hungary; Hungarian Multicultural Center, Ceres gallery, New York, NY; Berkeley College; Pen & Brush, New York, NY; AradBiennale, Romania; Nador Gallery, Budapest, Hungary; International Exposition 2005; Barcelona, Spain; and The Hoyt Institute, PA; among many others.
Jami is the recipient of numerous awards including a Painting Prize at the Arad Biennale, Romania; Strathmore Paper Artists Award; Nancy Ranson Award; Long Island Lithographic Award; and “Best in Works on Paper” from Manhattan Arts International.
