Artist Profile
The photographs of the husband and wife team, John and Cassidy Olson, present our universe in its most pure and elemental forms, whether depicting the vast natural almost-architectural wonders of our environment or more modern photography’s subjects. John and Cassidy Olson demonstrate that the photographer is always in complete control of every detail and minutia, ‘painting with light’ just as a painter works with brushes and paints. As these artists say, “light is the challenge, the opportunity and the essence of photography.”
The artistic journey of these Connecticut-based photographers is recorded in a near documentary style, with inspiration being drawn from such photographic luminaries as Ansel Adams and Ernst Haas, the subjects of their art are quite diversified: their New Mexico collection features black and white explorations of the natural abstract and geometrical forms of the Southwest, their New England Woodland Collection also explores natural abstract and geometrical forms but this time in color in a Northeastern setting, their South Beach Collection features color photos which reflect the flamboyance and joie de vivre of Florida in its prime, whereas their Classic Craft Collection and Classic Car Collection invests itself in the exquisite beauty of man-made vehicles. John and Cassidy Olson’s camera are akin to passports, allowing each series by these masterful artists to take us on yet another visual safari.
Inspired by design, architecture, and form, both natural and man-made, John and Cassidy Olson create stunning photographic images of the highest quality. Traveling extensively to various parts of the United States for their exceptional landscape images, they also find beauty in designed architecture and forms in relatively common items. These elements are key components to all of their images. Sharpness, attention to detail, color accuracy, and dramatic composition are present in every image.
John and Cassidy Olson are renowned professional photographers with decades worth of combined photographic experience.
