Stop Believing the Myth of the Poor Starving Artist!
In my 28 years as a consultant and coach meeting with tens of thousands of artists in private consultations and group workshops, my heart breaks every time I see an artist sabotage any possibility of gaining their fullest potential in every way due to misbeliefs about themselves and the role of the artist.
In my own life I have experienced a journey from lack to abundance. It was an internal process. I discovered the fountain of Abundance is unlimited. It grows in proportion everyday to the amount of acceptance I allow myself to experience. Yes, that’s it, the road to abundance begins by giving yourself permission to acquire everything! It is not enough to think and pray for abundance. You have to get yourself up and moving and exercising those abundance muscles that have been underused. There is a simple process that you can apply immediately if you have the desire and determination. Part of the Abundance For Artists program includes positive affirmations but you must not only embrace and absorb the meanings behind them and personalize them, you have to test them in your daily life. You will be given exercises. You will discover a pattern of cause and effect. You will learn how to change your belief patterns that will attract positive changes in your life. There are a myriad of reasons to believe you are deserving and able to claim your life of abundance. However we need to begin at the root. What is at the root, the core of your beliefs that is preventing you from accepting Abundance into your life? First, it may help to understand how you react to situations that present you from moving in a positive direction. These key factors are very constructive. They will help you understand your spontaneous reactions so you can begin the process of change and replacement with better behavior. At the same time, you want to avoid spending too much time dwelling on the fact that your second grade teacher degraded your painting and said you have no talent. You know that’s false anyway. So, let’s move on, shall we? You don’t want to stay stuck in second grade with the negative psychodrama of a seven year old, do you? Then, it’s time to stop blaming other people and conditions, luck or lack of it, your parents, your husband, your children or your karma for your life as it is. Take responsibility for your weaknesses as well as your strengths. More importantly, celebrate your strengths. Wake up with a feeling of gratitude! We should spend more time concentrating on what we do well than ridiculing ourselves for not measuring up.
