About Renée Phillips ~ Director of Manhattan Arts International
Phillips is the author of several books including the best-selling “The Complete Guide to New York Art Galleries”. She began writing about art and organizing exhibitions as a student at the Art Student’s League. She has presented keynote speeches in such art institutions as the Art Institute of Chicago and Columbia University. As an adjust faculty member of Marymount Manhattan College she conducted “The Successful Artist of the New Millennium”. Phillips is a member of the International Association of Art Critics and in addition to writing articles on this weblog she writes for Professional Artist magazine and Luxe Beat magazine and art essays for artists’ publicity materials. Carolyn Edlund
Founder of Artsy Shark,, “Inspiring Artists To Build Better Businesses”, Carolyn Edlund is a renowned art marketing expert and writer who presents workshops throughout the U.S. She promotes artists in all mediums on her website. She has assisted us in several of our juried exhibitions. In 2017 she will select an artist from the HERStory exhibition to receive a featured article on her popular website and promoted throughout her large social media networks.

Edward Rubin ~ International Arts Writer, Curator and Juror for Manhattan Arts International “The Healing Power of Art” competition
A New York based writer, Rubin’s writings have appeared in many magazines such as Art & Antiques, ArtUS, dART International, Canadian Art, ArtNexus, Flash Art, Hispanic Outlook, and Sculpture, as well as foreign magazines and online venues such as He is an active member of the prestigious International Association of Art Critics (AICA). As a curator, his exhibition, “Anne Ferrer: Billowing Beauty”, was presented at the The Lab Gallery in New York City. Rubin’s photographs and collages have been exhibited at museums and galleries in the U.S. and Europe.

Karen Gutfreund

Artist is also a curator of feminist exhibitions in museums and other venues. She is a partner at GutfreundCornett: “Changing The World Through Art”.  She has worked in the Painting & Sculpture Department for MoMA, the Andre Emmerick Gallery, and The Knoll Group, and is also an art consultant – renting artwork to corporations and individuals. She served as the National Exhibitions Director for the Women’s Caucus for Art and the No. California TFAP Representative (The Feminist Art Project).

She will select an artist to be featured on her website and promoted on social media for our HERStory juried exhibition.

Carole Sorell ~ Public Relations Expert and Arts Advocate
Sorell is founder, president President of Carole Sorell Incorporated Her clients have included Fortune 500 companies. She also works with artists, performers and not-for- profits.  She served on President Clinton’s Leadership Team advocating for arts education. She has worked with major personalities and celebrities which include Presidents Clinton and Reagan, Betty Ford and Joan Mondale, prime ministers Yitzhak Rabin and Shimon Peres, Alexander Calder and John Houseman, Garth Brooks, and most recently — John Mellencamp.

James Bacchi ~ Gallery Owner and Juror for Manhattan Arts International “Bold Expressions”
James Bacchi co-owns ArtHaus Gallery in San Francisco, California. He served as a juror for the Manhattan Arts International “Bold Expressions” and  “Small Art Big Impact”  exhibitions. His gallery represents museum-quality works, diverse in subject matter, media and style. Prior to the opening of ArtHaus, James Bacchi co-owned and directed ON THE WALL and Jagendorf-Bacchi Galleries in New York’s East Village and SOHO.  Bacchi has been a jury member for the annual ArtforAIDS Auction in San Francisco since 2006, and the MFA Show at The Academy of Art University in San Francisco since 2007.

Lilly Wei ~ Critic, Curator and Juror for Manhattan Arts International “The Healing Power of Art” competition
Lilly Wei served as a juror for the Manhattan Arts International “Celebrate The Healing Power of Art” 2014 competition and exhibition. She is a New York-based art critic who contributes to many publications including Art in America, and ARTnews. Wei has written numerous articles, reviews, interviews, essays and monographs on contemporary and modern artists. She serves on the board of several not-for-profit art organizations, including that of the International Association of Art Critics (USA) and Art Omi. As an independent curator she curated an exhibition with Ethan Ryman and Jan Tichy at Iliya Fridman Gallery in New York. Wei was born in Chengdu, China and has an MA in art history from Columbia University, New York.

Barbara Markoff ~ Author, Art Consultant, Owner of Artrageous!, Writer, and Juror for Manhattan Arts International “The Healing Power of Art” competition
Markoff is a corporate art consultant based in San Diego, California. Along with husband, Rob Markoff, she owns Artrageous!, an art and framing consulting business. She develops customized art programs for businesses. She is the author of Becoming A Corporate Art Consultant, The Handbook For Corporate Art Consultation. Many of her articles have been published in Picture Framing Magazine.

Nancy Reyner, Artist and Author
Manhattan Arts International award-winning artist,, author  of several art books, and instructor, she has appeared on television for HGTV’s “That’s Clever”,  and worked as a technical consultant for Golden Paints. She will select an innovative artist to feature on her website and promote throughout her social media networks in our HERStory juried exhibition.

Karyn A. Meyer-Berthel ~ Artist, Art Material Expert, Social Media Developer and Blogger
A painter and art material researcher, Karyn A. Meyer-Berthel has worked in the fine arts industry for over 14 years. She worked at the National Gallery of Art in the conservation department with the Mellon Art Materials Collection. Meyer-Berthel has worked in online publishing and video production for both American Artist and The Artist Magazine before becoming a social media developer and blogger for some of the top art material manufacturers in the world. She writes for both Ampersand Art Supply and FM Brush, Inc. She works in her own studio where she creates long lasting and improved quality art.

Cornelia Seckel ~ Publisher, Juror, Arts Advocate and Public Speaker
Seckel is the publisher of ART TIMES journal, a publication she co-founded with Raymond J. Steiner that serves the cultural corridor of the Northeast and provides commentary and resources for all the arts. Currently she is affiliated with The National Association of Women Artists as Honorary Vice President and Board member; and member of: The Silurians; Artists Fellowship, Inc.; ArtTable, Inc.; Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, NYC; Pen & Brush, NY; and NOW. In addition to her work with ART TIMES, she frequently serves as a juror.

Raymond Steiner ~ Art Critic, Editor, Author and Artist
Steiner is an art critic/ reviewer for ART TIMES, a literary journal he helped found in 1984 and for which he serves as Editor. In addition to authoring hundreds of essays, reviews, critiques, and several books, he has lectured extensively on various topics. He is also an accomplished landscape painter and has exhibited his work in solo and group shows. His many published works include The Vessel of Splendor: A Return to the One and The Girl Who Couldn’t See (a book for young adults); among others. His works have been translated into many different languages. He is a member of the American Society of Aesthetics, Salmagundi Club,  International Association of Art Critics, and more.
